Framer shop Kunst-treff
Ann-Jorunn Engeness from the framer shop Kunst-treff: "People are simply willing to pay for something that is really more beautiful"

Good-bye float glass
Ann-Jorunn Engeness is working at a framer shop in Oslo that opened almost 2 years ago. In the beginning only float glass was sold. However, since Ann-Jorunn took over the daily operations, 95% of all glass sold is ®claryl and 5% is float glass. Ann-Jorunn: "The customer is willing to pay for a more beautiful effect and I enjoy offering them the most beautiful solution".
Good for the business
Although Ann-Jorunn has worked with other AR-glass before, she really likes the appearance of ®claryl and with the price level of ®claryl it has indeed proven to be a good alternative for float glass. "It is wonderful to notice that people show their glass to their friends and that they return to my shop to have existing frames reframed with ®claryl. This is, of course, good for the business as well".
People are willing to pay for something beautiful
On the question how Ann-Jorunn manages to sell so much ®claryl she looks a bit surprised. "It is so easy to sell it; once the customer sees the difference between float glass and ®claryl he immediately knows what he wants. I always tell the customer that ®claryl is what I sell most and that there is a price difference. In the 12 months I am working here now I have had only 1 customer who wanted to know exactly what the price difference is. People are simply willing to pay for something that is really more beautiful". In the 12 months that Ann-Jorunn is selling ®claryl she has had a couple of sheets that were not perfect. Ann-Jorunn: "I am very satisfied the way ®claryl handles complaints. For example, if a glass sheet has a scratch it will always be replaced."
Kunsthandlung Schoenen
"We have been working with glass with an anti-reflective coating for many years, for as long as it has been around. All brands have passed through our hands at some stage. The main reason for choosing to work with ®claryl was the price."
Marcel Schoenen, Schoenen Art Gallery in Aachen, Germany.

Marcel: "We have been working with glass with an anti-reflective coating for many years, for as long as it has been around. All brands have passed through our hands at some stage. The main reason for choosing to work with ®claryl was the price." Our initial thoughts were: "Not another new type of glass! Let's see if the low price means that the quality suffers."
The first impressions of the sample were very positive. We had the same favorable impression as we have with all other manufacturers. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the quality and it was comparable to that of all other types of glass. However, our initial experiences were then unfortunately fairly mixed: The first sample crate was unfortunately dirty and it was difficult to clean. However, after several good conversations this problem was sorted out and a new cleaning method was employed and from this point on we did not experience any further problems. We can even say that we find it easier to cut and clean compared with other suppliers. Claryl is easier and quicker to clean and thus quicker to handle!
Given that as a company which is over 135 years old we have already made use of all types of glass, we can say that these glasses with anti-reflective coating have completely replaced the etched reflective glasses thanks to the beautiful effect they produce. We work with ®claryl 80% of the time. The remaining 18% then involves the use of normal glass and 2% UV protective glass. Normal glass will always exist as a cheap alternative.
The most important thing for sales is to have a model with the different grades of glass (reflective glass, normal glass and glasses with anti-reflective coating). With this model, the effect of the glass speaks for itself. We then provide customers with a quote for the price for different grades of glass and remind them that they are then framing their picture with a special level of quality which will be good for the next few years. When customers weigh up the higher costs of the glass against the many years in which they will gain more enjoyment from the picture in the frame, their decision is often already made. Experience tells us that 95% of good pictures are framed using glass with anti-reflective coating. Only simple objects are not.
